Our sister station, Kajun 107.1 FM will be broadcasting the first game of the season between Hammond High and St. Thomas Aquinas Friday night. Friday morning, I’ll have the principals of both schools on “Talk on the T”. Should be interesting! I’ve been busy with Hot August Night and hopefully you got in to see the Pelican and the other creatures that night. If not, go by and see them soon! Tuesday, August 17th… I’m inviting everyone to join us for a special tribute to Rube Rogers tomorrow from 8-9 a.m. We will talk about the beginning of his career to his untimely death on Friday the 13th. Rube’s visitation will be tomorrow from 6-9 p.m. and then again Thursday from 8 until the services at 10 a.m. at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond. Monday, August 16th… Well, it was sad to hear about Rube and Mr. G. F. over the weekend. Our condolences go out to both families. I’d like to thank Al Martin and Steve Wells for calling in this morning, remembering Rube and G. F. And of course, thanks to Steve Chauvin and other listeners. Friday, July 30th… Well, here it is Friday and I’m taking off for a few days in Florida. So Monday morning Bill Rose will be in the seat bringing you all the news and information that you will need to begin the month of August. His guest on the 1st Monday of the month, as usual, will be Hammond’s mayor Mayson Foster. Also Monday, the principal of Independence Elementary School, Cathy Leblanc, will drop by to talk about the “Safe Routes to School Grant”. On Tuesday, Charlotte Banks from the Hammond Chamber of Commerce will be his guest. On Wednesday, the new director of Fanfare from the Columbia Theatre, Ken Bolton, will drop in and talk to Bill. On Thursday, April Wehrs from the Ponchatoula Chamber of Commerce will be in to talk about the upcoming Business Expo, but I’ll be back that day to interview her! Wednesday, July 7th… It was a sad “Good-bye” to Donna Gay this morning. She has done a great job this past 11 years and we wish her well! Of course, we will still be seeing her around the community! We would like to thank her for introducing the new interim director, Ken Bolton, to us. He will join us on the 1st Wednesday of every month from now on. Thursday June 3rd…Hey…Just wanted to pass on news about a wreck with an 18 wheeler on I-55 this morning in the North bound exit. The 18 wheeler ran off the road near the Tickfaw exit. Traffic backed up for miles….Also a North bound accident occured soon after…so traffic problems going both ways on I-55. BTW tomorrow we’ll find out who wins the Birthday Club free cake from Coronas and free Custard from Eddies Frozen Custard…Check us out tomorrow morning here on the Johnny-in-the-Morning Show..
